My Priorities for our Students, Families, & APS District
I believe that ALL students in APS Deserve Equal Access to college and career opportunities.
As a continuing Board member, I will work closely with my colleagues to make advanced course offerings and programs more equitable and accessible to all students. As a national scholarship expert, I believe one opportunity to promote equal access to college opportunities is to work with the District to re-establish the Last Dollar scholarship program for APS students to close college funding gaps. I am committed to supporting the District in establishing partnerships with entrepreneurial organizations to offer students real world experience in business ownership.
I believe we can reimagine student success funding allocations.
With a District focus on improved student achievement, I believe it is critical to tie budget line items to district goals and student outcomes going forward. This approach will help our school system accelerate program funding to interventions that are working, and eliminate those that do not serve students. In addition, it is important to invest additional resources for district-wide peer to peer professional development opportunities so that all students, across all clusters receive a “best-in-class” learning opportunity.
I believe we can engage stakeholders in the improvement of student outcomes.
It is time for us to prioritize funding for interventions that are improving reading and math outcomes. As your At-Large Seat 9 School Board Member, I plan to engage high-impact community partners to scale successful partnerships across the district. I will also authentically engage students and their families in developing solutions that will inspire students to learn.
